Maplewood Stables, Inc. is a complete horse training, stable and sale business. Established in 1977, we are dedicated to showing champion hunters, jumpers, and hunt seat equitation at all levels throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. Our stallion Cartouche Z won the $10,000 Hood River Inn Grand Prix for the second year in a row last year. He was the Circuit Overall Champion Level 7 Jumpers and Mid-Circuit Reserve Champion at Indio 2005, ridden by our own Julie Winkel. Julie and our other stallion Osilvis jumped clean in the $30,000 Antares Grand Prix at the Palms Classic 2005. Both of these champion stallions are available to a select number of mares each year.
Julie Winkel, the owner of Maplewood Stables, Inc., is a champion rider herself and is frequently asked to judge prestigious shows such as the USEF Medal Finals and World Cup Finals. Maplewood offers Julie's expertise in training champion hunters, jumpers and equestrians.
We offer a complete training program year-round, for beginning through advanced horsemanship. Our advanced riders show extensively on the "A" circuit throughout California, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, and Canada, as well as the the East Coast finals.
Our facilities are well-known for their high quality with indoor and outdoor arenas, a Grand Prix field, newly-renovated clubhouse, 24-hour security, and 150 acres of gorgeous parkland and trails for leisure riding. Please be sure to visit our Facilities page for more details and photographs.
Maplewood Stables is proud to offer these horses for sale. Horses are also available for lease and lessons. Be sure to visit our Sale Barn for more information about available horses.

Cartouche Z Maplewood Stables is proud to announce our stallion, Cartouche Z, is available for breeding this season. "Ace" is our 8 year old Grey Zangersheide, and had a champion record from the Indio Desert Circuit 2005, and an incredible show record 2004-2006.

Where in the World is Julie?
Julie judged Middleburg Classic Horse Show in Middleburg, VA. Sept. 16-20, then gave a clinic in Lexington, VA. with Linda Allen. This clinic was about understanding courses and judging from a course designer and judge’s perspective. It was a very well-attended clinic and thoroughly enjoyed by spectators, exhibitors and clinicians.
Julie traveled to Chicago, Il. Oct. 3-5 to give a clinic at Galway Farms. This is the second clinic she gave there this year. It was full, with five groups! The three days culminated with a big party at one of the participant’s new bar in downtown Chicago. It was really fun!!
Julie travelled to Springfield, Mass. Oct.15-19 to judge and design the courses for the 32nd annual New England Equitation Championships. This is quite a prestigious event with such past winners as Olympians Peter Wylde and McClain Ward. There were three adult finals earlier in the week with about 70 in each final. The big final held on Sunday saw 236 riders test Julie’s course. It was a great event. There were parties each night, many different awards, and a great horsemanship contest that included a written test and a hands-on test as well as the riding competion.
