Maplewood Stables, Inc. is a complete horse training, stable and sale business. Established in 1977, we are dedicated to showing champion hunters, jumpers, and hunt seat equitation at all levels throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. Our stallions Osilvis and Cartouche Z are currently showing extensively on the show circuit. Recent successes include Osilvis's win in the $50,000 Showpark Grand Prix as well as first in the $10,000 Hood River Grand Prix and second in the $30,000 Country Classic Grand Prix. Cartouche Z was third in the $30,000 Country Classic Grand Prix and won the 1.40m Speed Jumpers at Spruce Meadows in Canada. Both of these champion stallions are available to a select number of mares each year.
  Julie Winkel, the owner of Maplewood Stables, Inc., is an accomplished rider herself and is frequently asked to judge prestigious shows such as the USEF Medal Finals and World Cup Finals. Maplewood offers Julie's expertise in training champion hunters, jumpers and equestrians.
We offer a complete training program year-round, for beginning through advanced horsemanship. Our advanced riders show extensively on the "A" circuit throughout California, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, and Canada, as well as the the East Coast finals.
Our facilities are well-known for their high quality with indoor and outdoor arenas, a Grand Prix field, newly-renovated clubhouse, 24-hour security, and 150 acres of gorgeous parkland and trails for leisure riding. Please be sure to visit our Facilities page for more details and photographs.
Cartouche Z
Maplewood Stables is proud to announce our stallion, Cartouche Z, is available for breeding this season. "Ace" is our 11 year old Grey Zangersheide, and had a champion record from the Indio Desert Circuit 2005.

Osilvis
Osilvis, by Silvio II out of Iregina (by Nimmerdor), is our 1996 Chocolate Palomino and is also available to a select number of mares this season. Osilvis has a great show record as well, winning the $50,000 Grand Prix of California at Showpark and the $10,000 Grand Prix in Hood River. Not only is he unbeleivably beautiful and exceptionally talented, but he is a lamb to work with.

SNHSA Show.
Hosted by Red Rock Hounds, it was pretty warm but a cool breeze kept us all comfortable. Many were in the ribbons. And Julie showed how it's done on Monte! See results and pics here.
Sonoma Classic Horse Show.
Several Maplewood horses, clients and interns headed to wine country June 16-20 for the Sonoma Classic horse show. The new facility had great footing, a nice layout, schedule and great management. Besides enjoying the competition our group was treated to a great evening in San Francisco. See results and pics here.

Maplewood Hosts New Video.
Maplewood was host site for the filming by Video Velocity with the world-renown Dr. Robert Miller, about lameness and conformation. Both Osilvis & Cartouche Z will be featured, along with Julie commenting on the outstanding structural qualities that make these stallions so outstanding.
After two days of filming, Dr. Miller commented that he has travelled the world and never seen the amazing quality and quanity of great conformation that he saw at Maplewood! What a compliment! We are honored to have spent this time with such awesome man!

Julie Selected to Judge Franktown Meadows.
The $25,000 Franktown Meadows Hunter Derby is pleased to announce USEF and CEF judge, Julie Winkel as one of the four judges for the first West Coast standalone hunter derby. The event is scheduled for September 19, 2010 at the Franktown Meadows Equestrian Facility in Carson City, NV.
Inaugural Emerging Athlete National Finals.
Held at Maplewood Jan. 8-10, the EAP Finals was an overwhelming success! The three-day competition encompassed learning opportunities from world reknown clinicians. A written test as well as barn duties, mucking and grooming were part of the curriculum. The parents and riders met at Julies home Friday night for a question/answer reception with Peter Wylde. Saturday evening the participants, parents, staff, committee and clinicians had a wonderful dinner at the host hotel, The Peppermill. The final day was thrilling, with all the horses and riders being in top form. The co-winners were Carly Anthony & Ricky Neal. They will receive a month of advanced training.
